Thinking with the Venice Biennale 2022, ‘Milk of Dreams’

Are you a photographer, filmmaker, sculptor, visual storyteller and/or artist looking for how this year’s Biennale Arte could inspire your own work? Or are you just interested to find out more about this biennale that is curated by Cecilia Alemani, who is the first Italian woman to hold the position and whose vision is to give voice to artists to create unique projects that reflect their visions and our society.

‘The Milk of Dreams’ takes its title from a book by Leonora Carrington (1917–2011) in which the Surrealist artist describes a magical world where life is constantly re-envisioned through the prism of the imagination. It is a world where everyone can change, be transformed, become something or someone else; a world set free, brimming with possibilities.’ (Biennale description).

After visiting the Biennale, I am excited to continue the conversation, so come along to this one off online session to re-envision through the ‘prism of imagination’ with other creatives and led by visual storyteller Marie Theresa of MTC Digital Creative and incoming Visual Cultures PhD candidate at Goldsmiths University of London.

I will start the conversation about the Biennale, sharing key works that resonated with me, then there will be space for discussions and to share your own practice/work.
